Can I place my membership on hold?

We can not place your membership on hold.

If you choose to cancel your membership, because of the ever-changing requirements for the Counselling industry, we can not guarantee with your current qualifications you will be able to join at the same level you currently are or will be able to re-join at all.

You can however switch to the non-practicing membership (Proficient). This level is exclusively for ACA Registered Counsellors who are taking extended leave, therefore, wish to change to a non–practising level. A period no shorter than six months and no longer then 2 years will be granted for proficient members. As this is a non–practising level, an ACA Registered Counsellor must formally apply to be moved to this level, prior to returning back to practice a member must put in writing that they would like to be returned to their previous level. Proficient Counsellors are not required to undergo regular Supervision or OPD. You still need to renew your Proficient membership every year on your renewal date - $220 per year. You can not practice while you are a Proficient member.
